Welcome to Field Notes
What Field Notes is for, who writes it, and what you'll find here as the library grows.
Field Notes is where Domestiq's coaches write in long form.
What you'll find here
Training isn't about following a template — it's about understanding the physics, the physiology and the psychology of what you're trying to do, and then making honest decisions week by week.
Field Notes exists to cover the thinking behind the decisions. Expect:
- Race planning deep-dives — wind, heat, fuelling, pacing, with the actual formulas rather than the platitudes.
- Periodisation guides — base / build / peak / taper, what the numbers should look like, what the warning signs are.
- Product notes — how Domestiq makes specific decisions, with worked examples.
- Honest reviews — the platforms and tools we use alongside Domestiq, and why.
Who writes it
Articles are written by Tom Cooling — a British endurance coach with a small roster of paying clients who race-test every Domestiq feature before it reaches the public product — and by invited guest coaches as the library grows.
The promise
Nothing on Field Notes is AI-generated filler. Every piece is either:
- A coaching deep-dive we'd charge a client to read, or
- A product note explaining exactly how Domestiq makes a specific decision.
If it's not one of those two, it doesn't ship.
Check back weekly — first cornerstone articles land week commencing 28 April 2026.
